Introduction

This section briefly covers the legislative aspects of noise, and should be read in conjunction with the previous sections and the Noise Guides published in two volumes by HSE:

Noise Guides 1 and 2 provide Guidance on Regulations for the Noise at Work Regulations 1989

Noise Guides 3 to 8 are included in the guidance note HS(G)56

This segment assumes familiarity with the terms dB, dB(A), pascals and daily personal noise exposure (L,EP,d).  Decibels are assumed to be referenced to 20mPa.
