Introduction

This section briefly covers the legislative aspects of noise, and should be read in conjunction with the previous sections and the Noise Guides published in two volumes by HSE:

Noise Guides 1 and 2 provide Guidance on Regulations for the Noise at Work Regulations 1989

Noise Guides 3 to 8 are included in the guidance note HS(G)56

This segment assumes familiarity with the terms dB, dB(A), pascals and daily personal noise exposure (L,_EP,d). Decibels are assumed to be referenced to 20mPa.
